The Appalachia Committee Inc. is an IRS recognized 501-(C)3 nonprofit organization. The Committee was formed in 1968 as a direct result of the family mission experience of two Ames, Iowa families working with a small Catholic parish in Williamsburg Kentucky.
The Committee accepts donations of quality used clothing, household furniture, beds, mattresses, kitchen appliances, and toys and sends tractor trailer loads to Williamsburg, Kentucky. It also helps to sponsor youth and high school trips to the region and fosters a relationship between communities in Iowa and Kentucky.
